Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS) is a regional airport serving the Emerald Coast region of the Florida Panhandle. Located just 15 miles from the popular vacation destination of Destin, the airport is a convenient gateway for visitors to the area. With a variety of airlines offering direct flights from most major U.S. cities, VPS provides easy access to one of the most beautiful areas of the Gulf Coast. In addition to commercial air travel, the airport is home to several military operations, including the U.S. Air Force’s Eglin Air Force Base and the Army’s 7th Special Forces Group. VPS offers a variety of services and amenities to travelers, including free Wi-Fi throughout the terminal, a Dunkin Donuts, and a bar/restaurant.
If you arrive in Destin prior to the check-in time for your Airbnb or VRBO vacation rental, there’s no need to worry. This is a common scenario, as many flights arrive earlier than the check-in time for rentals. To make the most of your time, we have several options available to you.
Grocery Shopping: Depending on the timing of your arrival, a visit to the grocery store may be sufficient to occupy your time. If a significant amount of time needs to be passed, grocery shopping can be done in combination with the other available options. In Destin there are some really great options including a Walmart, Publix, Winn-Dixie, Fresh Market, and a Whole Foods. When it comes to liquor stores Walmart, Publix, Winne-Dixie, Beach Liquors, and Wine World are all great. In Miramar there is a Winn-Dixie and a Publix which also have liquor stores. If you need Beach equipment or some souvenirs there’s an Alvin’s Island about every 2 or 3 miles it seems.
(Note) If you plan to buy items that require refrigeration or freezing, it is advisable to do so just before checking into your rental, rather than prior to exploring other options.
Proximity Dining: If you’re staying at a rental near a restaurant, we can take you to a restaurant within walking distance.
Restaurant of your choice: If you’d like to go to a restaurant of your choice, we can take you there and pick you up later. Our team can recommend a variety of restaurants, such as the Harbor Walk, The Boardwalk, Sandestin, or the Destin Commons. Additionally, we can take you to purchase groceries or visit a beachfront restaurant.
Tour of the area: If you’re interested in exploring the town and checking out local bars and restaurants, we can charter a tour for you. There are several breweries in Niceville and Destin, as well as a variety of bars and restaurants. We can also visit historical sites like the armament museum near the airport, the tribal mound in Fort Walton, and the Destin Fishing Museum. Once it’s time to check-in to your rental, we’ll drop you off at your condo.
At the VPS Airport, which is a compact facility with just one baggage claim, our team will monitor your flight’s arrival and make a call as soon as you land. For your convenience, our van will be parked in a designated area just outside the baggage claim, easily accessible through a white gate. The door to the pre-arranged parking is located to the right, when facing the rental car vendors, without a vending machine.
Airport Prices: Our airport prices are based on a combination of distance and passengers and gets more expensive the further you go and the more passengers you have. We have a $50 minimum.
Extra Stops: If you are chartering you can stop as much as you want. If we are picking up your group and you need to pick up multiple people in a neighborhood or need to stop along the way torwards a destination we will not charge if the pickup is under a mile, $5 if the pickup is under 2 miles, and $10 of the pickup is under 5 miles in the direction of the destination. Otherwise we will have to negotiate prices based on $3 per mile extra. If our schedule allows or if you have booked ahead of time, If you wish to stop and get groceries after on the way from the airport we charge $10 which includes 15 minutes before we charge $50 per hour for the first hour or $.83 per minute. After the first hour we charge regular charter prices at $100 per hour.

- Alternative Solutions: If possible, we will assist you in finding another trusted ride source to get you to your destination.
If your flight is delayed, please contact us as soon as possible to inform us of the updated arrival time. Our team is dedicated to providing you with the highest level of service and support.

If you book your airport transportation with us both ways we can offer up to 5% off the next run you book with us, 10% off the run after that, and 15% of any other runs. In order to submit a request you will need to enter your information into the booking submission form below. If you are flying in you will need to put from airport and not point to point. The airport code and name is VPS. Once you submit a booking request one of our logistics experts will shortly send you a quote to your email. In order to finalize the booking your will need to enter your credit card info using the link provided in the email. We will authenticate your card instead of charging it and will accept a chip or cash payment the day of the booking. There is a chance that the email containing the quote will go to your junk mailbox. If for some reason you do not receive a quote within 15-30 minutes there could be a technical error and I advise to call 850-424-7442 and we will push it through ASAP as well as help you with anything else you might need.
